Let’s meet the founders of the future
In this customer story, we feature TERASi, a Stockholm-based hardware company transforming the landscape of wireless solutions. Their ultra-compact, high-speed radios and innovative packaging technology enables mission-critical connectivity that is fast, secure, and deployable anywhere. Their journey highlights the benefit of combining advanced engineering with a streamlined patent process to protect innovations without wasting time. Building upon academic research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology conducted by CEO James Campion, TERASi was founded to address the challenges of modern wireless networks. Now, TERASi has specialised in mm-wave radios and wafer-scale System-in-Package (SiP) solutions that deliver gigabit-speed links without relying on fiber or bulky infrastructure.
At the core of their innovation is Aircore™, a breakthrough packaging technology that miniaturises powerful RF functionality. Using Aircore™, TERASi has created the RU1 mm-wave radio, the world’s smallest and lightest mm-wave device, alongside the largest 6G antenna. Their innovations make it possible to deploy high-speed data networks anywhere in the world.

While the technology is groundbreaking, TERASi faced a major hurdle early in the process: protecting their intellectual property. Traditional patent processes were slow, expensive, and required engineers to spend valuable time translating complex inventions for attorneys. As co-founder and CEO James Campion explains: “I would say the two biggest challenges were the classic ones, that it cost a lot of money and took a lot of time. So we were spending a lot of money on attorney fees and we were also spending a lot of engineering time trying to translate our inventions into the attorney's head so that they could write the patent.”
TERASi turned to Lightbringer to streamline and modernise the patenting process. The platform allowed their engineers to structure patent drafts themselves, clearly describing innovations and breaking them down into actionable steps. James notes:
“Now we are able to actually prepare the structure of the patent ourselves. So we're able to describe the innovation, break it down in a very structured way and prepare the first draft of the patent.
The Lightbringer platform makes the patenting process much easier and quicker and we're also able to involve our engineers in the whole process from innovation to filing a patent.”

The streamlined process also contributed to improved transparency and collaboration across the team. “The overall transparency is much better than before. So the management team is able to go in and see all of the ongoing patent preparations in a very, very easy way. And the individual engineers are able to see the patent across its entire journey.”
With Lightbringer’s support, TERASi were able to adop a more aggressive patent strategy, filing more applications at a lower cost and faster pace than they first thought possible. “Our patent strategy is now much more aggressive. We're able to file more patents for a lower cost and at a much, much faster rate. So that means we can really protect our innovative solutions and make sure that we can capitalise on them in the future.”
By removing barriers in the patenting process, TERASi can focus on advancing their RU1 mm-wave radio, Aircore™ packaging, and large-scale 6G antennas without slowing innovation.
TERASi’s story illustrates a central lesson for innovators: when intellectual property is efficiently protected, teams can focus on building transformative technology for the future. Their journey exemplifies how smart engineering, combined with Lightbringer’s modern patenting process, can turn ideas into market-ready solutions.
